January, 2014 -- The high temperatures in Panama City Beach in the coming days will generally be in the 60's, while in Chicago the high temperatures will range from the 20's to 30's. Yikes.
It might seem like just good common sense to stay in Panama City Beach for the winter, but staff from the Panama City Beach TDC are actually "chilling" in Chicago over Martin Luther King Day weekend, bringing a little Florida sunshine to our Midwestern friends, and making the dream of a free beach vacation come true for one lucky winner.
The Panama City Beach CVB is helping Visit Florida spread a little sunshine by participating in a program to wrap the outside of select trains on Chicago's elevated B Line with images from sunny Florida, and cover the inside of one of the trains with scenes from Panama City Beach.
Hopefully, it'll help put commuters in a happy, Panama City Beach state of mind... but we're going one step further to make sure Chicagoans will be able to get a little sand between their toes: Inside the Woodfield Mall in Schaumburg, IL, we've set up a PCB photo background, and some sparkling white sand, complete with heat lamps and beach props, and we're inviting mall-goers to take their picture on our little transplanted beach, and share with their friends anyway they want! If someone wants to fool their friends into thinking they're at the real PCB... well, we won't tell!
To make those Panama City Beach dreams come true, we're also holding a drawing to win a $7,000 dream vacation package to the real PCB! Stop by the mall and join the fun, or post your own pictures online with #RealFunBeach. We'll be hanging out in the mall from January 16-20, and the PCB train will be running through March.
