Visiting Panama City Beach can be as calm and effortless as a day at the beach. However you choose to travel to our neck of the Gulf Coast, our tips and resources will help make your journey to and around PCB a breeze. 

To Panama City Beach 

Fly into Panama City Beach. The closest major airport is Northwest Florida Beaches International in Panama City, north of PCB and about a 15-minute drive to the area’s beachfront accommodations, restaurants, and attractions.

Getting from the airport to PCB is just as easy. The airport is home to major rental car agencies, a variety of taxi, shuttle, and limo services, plus a rideshare pick-up location.

If you plan on driving – 

From the north: Highway 79 is the most direct route into PCB. Highways 231, 331, and 77 connect to U.S. Highway 98 (also known as the Panama City Beach Parkway). Each of these north/south highways provides easy access to Interstate 10.

From the west: take Highway 98 directly into Panama City Beach. Or, if you're traveling on I-10, hop on Highway 331 South to Highway 20 East. Once there, turn south on Highway 79 until you arrive at the beach. From Highway 20, it's about a 15-mile drive south to reach the city.  

From the east: Highway 98 will bring you directly to Panama City Beach. You can also take either I-10 or Highway 20 westbound to Highways 79, 77, or 231.

From the south: Take Interstate 95 North, connect to the Florida turnpike, and then hop on Interstate 75 North before taking I-10 West. From I-10, take FL-12 W until you reach FL-20 W and U.S.-231 S.

Around Town

Once in town, there are many ways to get around. 

Need to get from your hotel to a local attraction? If you don’t have a car, request rideshare. If you’d like a leisurely way to get to and from the beach, rent a cruiser or electric bike at a local outfitter. The city offers bike racks at various beach access points. There are also plenty of must-see nature trails at parks like Conservation if you’d like to spend a day exploring the wetlands on two wheels.

By foot is another option, especially if you booked a stay at one of the Panama City Beach resorts on the beach or find yourself within walking distance of top attractions like Pier Park

One of our area’s top attractions, Shell Island, is accessible by boat. Hop on the Shell Island Shuttle, which takes you on a short but scenic journey to the untouched barrier island.
