Thanks to a strong military community and beautiful weather, Panama City Beach has had great success attracting athletes to train and compete in paradise. New this year, avid runners can lace up their shoes for the Panama City Beach Marathon on December 5, 2015. Athletes can test their limits on the new 26.2 mile route that starts and finishes at Pier Park, just steps away from the famous sugar-white sand beaches and emerald waters of Panama City Beach. This year's race is an officially sanctioned qualifier for the 2016 Boston Marathon.

"We are thrilled to announce this race and hope that it will become a staple for the community, attracting thousands of residents and visitors to Panama City Beach," shares Visit Panama City Beach President and CEO Dan Rowe. "This race will nicely compliment other excellent endurances we host, including the Florida IRONMAN in November, and the Gulf Coast Triathlon in the spring."

Previously, the "Run for the Redfish" Half-Marathon and 5K proved so popular that the full-marathon was added, along with changing the name to the "Panama City Beach Marathon." The December 5th race also includes a 5K and half-marathon. Individual registration fees are $75 for the full-marathon, $50 for the half-marathon and $35 for the 5K.
