Visit Panama City Beach is pleased to kick off the fourth season of “Chasin’ The Sun.” In the season premiere episode titled The Island of Travis, co-host and Panama City Beach native Justin Leake visits Key West to fish the waters with co-host Captain Travis Holeman. The show will debut on Saturday, January 5 at 8:00 a.m. EST / 7:00 a.m. CST on Discovery Channel.
After spending last season highlighting Panama City Beach’s action-packed fisheries, Captain Leake takes viewers to the southernmost point of the continental U.S. in Key West, where he finds “Travis Time” to be a little slower and a lot less planned. But those aren’t the only differences. In Panama City Beach, the redfish is the year-round “go to” for many anglers but, while in the Keys, the permit fish is Captain Holeman’s favorite. Leake has caught permit in the shallow waters of Panama City Beach while sight fishing, but in Key West the two captains explore deep water techniques to hook up with a big one. The duo also teams up to fish floating islands of sargassum seaweed, each teeming with mahi mahi. Though geography and techniques may differ, Leake learns in just a few days that on unfamiliar waters “fishing is fishing” and success comes to those who make the effort.
