Guide to Spearfishing Panama City Beach

Much of the action takes place below the surface in this episode, as divers go spearfishing on the wreck of the U.S.S. Strength, a World War II minesweeper that saw action off Iwo Jima and Okinawa before being sunk as an artificial reef in 1987. Aleese Maples, co-host, explains how open water diving off Panama City Beach is a good way for divers to gain experience and hone their skills. Dive shop owner Pat Green describes the gear required for a successful spearfishing trip. Aleese shows how to spot and take lobster. Capt. Justin Leake finds the action topside, as he and fellow fishing guide Matt Smith target redfish and mangrove snapper. Smith shows how to present the bait properly and, after making a catch, explains the "feeding stripe" on the side of the fish's head. Justin and Matt end up at J. Michael's Restaurant to complete their "hook & cook" adventure.
