Redfish, Bluefish
It’s all about presentation and style as we target redfish in the St. Andrews Pass using a technique usually reserved for freshwater angling.
Host Justin Leake and veteran outdoor film producer Jamie Wilkinson have the pass virtually all to themselves as they pursue schooling redfish by “drop shotting” soft plastic baits. As Capt. Leake explains, this method – often used to catch largemouth bass in fresh water – allows precise depth control so anglers can put their bait in the sweet spot. Drifting through the pass on a fast-moving tide, the pair reel in some nice bull redfish and even a bluefish or two.
During a break in the action, Capt. Leake shows us St. Andrews State Park which borders the western side of the pass. One of Florida’s most popular parks, the 1,200 acre property features two fishing piers, a jetty, and a boat ramp to provide excellent opportunities for anglers.
Finally, outdoor writer and lifelong resident Capt. Scott Lindsey takes viewers back in time for a look at Panama City Beach before it became a world-class coastal destination that attracts millions of visitors each year. What was the key to unlocking its secret? “Air conditioning,” he says. That and the natural beauty of its sugar white sand and emerald green water, of course.
