PANAMA CITY BEACH, Fla., February XX, 2018– Visit Panama City Beach and the Bay County Tourist Development Council announce collections for the month of January 2018 were up 3.2 percent compared to January 2017, and the destination is currently up 5.1 percent for the fiscal year, which began October 2017.

 “Panama City Beach is built on fun, and the month of January is no exception,” states Visit Panama City Beach President and CEO Dan Rowe. “Each year more and more travelers decide to ditch the winter blues and flock to Panama City Beach for our warmer weather, sunshine and our fun calendar of events.”

The destination saw thousands of winter residents visit the beach for a January retreat, many of whom continue to return year after year and encourage others to join for their annual getaway. Panama City Beach’s new season of events and values such as Winter Resident Appreciation Days, mystery golf challenges, Homecoming Dance and Social and Senior Prom drew thousands of visitors from across the country to Panama City Beach to savor time with their loved ones.

The Tourist Development Tax is a five percent tax on short-term rentals including hotels and condominiums. The tax funds marketing and promotional activities led by the Panama City Beach Convention & Visitors Bureau. It is also used for beach cleaning and grooming, product improvement and beach renourishment.
