PANAMA CITY BEACH, Fla., March 06, 2018 – The Bay County Commission gave a unanimous approval for the construction of the first phase of the Panama City Beach Sports Park & Stadium Complex. The flexible, multipurpose design consists of thirteen fields: eight rectangular fields for soccer, lacrosse, rugby, football and flag football, as well as five collegiate-sized baseball and softball fields. The first phase of the project builds on the variety of tournaments that Panama City Beach will be able to host and enhances the destination’s appeal as a year-round destination.
At build-out, the project, located on 210-acres on the east end of Panama City Beach within the Breakfast Point development, will consist of the outdoor field complex, an indoor sports center and a new elementary school. The combination of high quality visitor amenities, state-of-the-art amateur athletic facilities and creative site design, will set a new standard for sports complexes throughout the country.
“Today is an important today in the evolution of Panama City Beach,” said Bay County Tourist Development Council Chairman Andy Phillips. “By focusing on sports that the destination underserves at our existing facilities, the Panama City Beach Sports Park & Stadium Complex is certain to transform Panama City Beach as a sports-tourism destination.”
